The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) through the Directorate General of Commerce cooperates with the Directorate General of ASEAN Affairs-Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MNEC) and the Coordinator General-Ministry Coordinator of Economic Affairs (MECAE) organizes training on Legal Instruments in the ASEAN Community and Economy WTO in the MNEC meeting room, Dili.

The purpose of this training, to increase knowledge on the progress of implementation of the road map of Timor-Leste's accession to ASEAN in the economic pillar and legal instruments on; ATIGA (ASEAN Trade In Goods Agreement), AFAS-ATISA (ASEAN Framework Agreement in Services- ASEAN Trade In Services Agreement), ACIA (ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement) and legal instruments in the world trade organization (WTO) for employees in the General Directorate of Trade MCI .

His excelency Minister Nino Pereira said, through this training program to deepen better knowledge and understanding of the legal framework of ASEAN and WTO.

โ€œToday we had mark an important stage for Timor-Leste's journey especially MCI to learn and use better the basic legal framework that supports Timor-Leste's integration into the ASEAN and WTO economic communities, the main objective of the training program to focus on Legal Instruments, subject to the ASEAN economic community and strategic vision post WTO accession to further deepen Timor-Leste knowledge and understanding of the ASEAN and WTO frameworks and to increase our capacity to bring our knowledge to access the benefits of regional and global economic integration โ€_affirms Minister MCI

In the same place, HE Vice-Minister of ASEAN Affairs, Mrs. Milena Rangel appreciated and thanked the initiative of this training and asked to continue to share and know better about the accession process.

The training was held for 5 days, and attended in the opening of the training HE Deputy Minister of ASEAN Affairs, Mrs. Milena Rangel, Director General of ASEAN Affairs MNEC, Executive Director of Trade Invest, Director General, National Director, Municipal Director, employees from MCI and MECAE, representatives of development partners, as well as advisors.
