PRODUCT FOR ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION AND GUARANTEE OF SUSTAINABILITY

Dili, 26 August 2025 – The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nino Pereira, accompanied by the National Director of Marketing, Mr. Miguel Soares, visited the company BORIGRA Star Unipessoal, Lda, which produces sugar in Manleu, Dili Municipality.

This local sugar production is carried out by a Timorese company in cooperation with a company from Jakarta, Indonesia, using coconut sap as the raw material. The sugar is marketed under the brand NIRA organic palm coconut sugar.

Through the presence of Minister Nino Pereira, the local sugar product was able to gain promotion, already being distributed in shops across the capital Dili, while also creating employment for many Timorese people.
