Bilateral Meeting with Hong Kong, China

Their Excellencies the Minister and Vice-Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nino Pereyra and Mr. Augusto Junior Trindade, and their delegation held a bilateral meeting with the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of Hong Kong, China, Mr. Algernon Yau, within the framework of the 57th ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting (57th AEM Meeting) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The objective of the bilateral meeting was to exchange some ideas about the opportunities that Hong Kong, as an ASEAN dialogue partner, can offer to Timor-Leste once it becomes a full member of ASEAN this coming October.

Another issue discussed was how Timor-Leste and Hong Kong can further enhance economic cooperation in strategic areas such as finance, digital economy, agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and renewable energy.

Hong Kong committed to further expand commercial and investment activities in Timor-Leste and will work together with the Government of Timor-Leste to facilitate the movement of investment between the two countries in the future.
